Marikina, Mandaluyong incumbent mayors retain posts

Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos and Marikina City Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro both retained their positions in the midterm elections.

According to ABS-CBN’s live results, Abalos defeated in a landslide 128,661 votes independent candidate Florencio Solomon who received 8,589 votes.

Anthony Suva, running mate of Abalos, also won the vice mayoral race, beating opponent Boy De Quinto who garnered 18,981 votes.

For the city’s lone congressional seat, unopposed Boyet Gonzales easily took the lead with 127,268 votes.

Incumbent Marikina Mayor Teodoro is set to retain his position as the shoe capital’s local chief executive with 95.72 percent of the total votes counted as of 8:42 a.m.

Teodoro, who ran unopposed, garnered 152, 544 votes while Doc Marion Andres will take over as city vice mayor after acquiring 100,735 votes.

For the city’s First District, incumbent Cong. Bayani Fernando defended his seat against challenger Doc Cadiz.

Bayani received a staggering 53,633 votes against the 13,012 votes of Cadiz.

In Marikina’s Second District, outgoing Cong. Miro Quimbo will hand over the congressional seat to his wife and former commissioner of the Philippine Competition Commission Teacher Stella Quimbo after getting 78,013 votes.
