Vico’s parents, actress Coney Reyes and “Eat Bulaga” host Vic Sotto were present. Vic’s wife, Pauleen Luna was also around to show her support for Vico.
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and daughter Ciara rallied Pasigeños to vote for Vico.
Vico’s half sister, actress Danica Sotto, who was celebrating her birthday was welcomed on stage by Vico’s supporters with a birthday song. Danica’s husband, Magnolia hoopster Marc Pingris was also spotted on stage.
The Plaza Rizal was jampacked with about 6,000 supporters Thursday night for the grand rally of the 27-year-old Sotto, according to Pasig City Police.
With the campaign slogan “Iba Naman”, Vico is offering a new kind of leadership in his bid to unseat incumbent Mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio, and end the 27-year-rule of the Eusebios in the city of more than 400,000 voters as of the 2016 elections.
In his speech, Vico said that one of the reasons why he ran for the city’s top post after being elected top councilor in the First District, was because of the “culture of fear” he witnessed at the City Hall.
“May mga ibang City Hall employees na tuwing nakakasalubong ako yumuyuko. Yung iba, nakayuko pero nagbubulong: ‘Vico naiintindihan mo naman siguro.’ At ako naiintindihan ko (There were some City Hall employees who try to avoid me. Others whisper: ‘Vico, I hope you understand.’ And I understand their predicament), ” Vico said in his speech.
“Dahil alam ko sa estilo nila, empleyado ng city hall makipagpicture sa akin, kinakabahan ‘yun baka bukas wala na silang trabaho (Because I know those who have their pictures taken with me fear losing their jobs),” he continued.
Vico said his “Big V Agenda” includes the allocation of P2.4 billion for the implementation of the Universal Health Care which will be sourced from the city’s P10.7 billion annual budget.
Once elected, doctor’s consultation, maintenance medicines, laboratory exams, among others, will be made available for free for all Pasig residents starting January 1 next year, Vico said.
The top councilor of Pasig City’s First District, who pushed for the Pasig Transparency Ordinance—the first ever transparency ordinance in Metro Manila, also wants to fight corruption by refusing to receive kickbacks from government projects.
Vico, an Ateneo De Manila University graduate urged his supporters to vote for his partymates—comebacking Cong. Roman Romulo, environmental reporter and television host Kiko Rustia and Second District aspirant councilor Salvador “Bobby” Hapin. #MatalinongBoto2019
