An estafa complaint has been filed against Peter Joemel Advincula yesterday (May 10) before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for having skipped his obligations in a pageant he organized in Albay in 2018.
The complaint was filed by Arven Valmores, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Ardeur World Marketing Corp. which is engaged in the distribution of perfume products.
He was accompanied by his lawyer, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Benjamin Delos Santos.
Meanwhile, Valmores assured that no one from the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte approached him to file the complaint against Advincula who claimed to be Bikoy in the viral videos “Ang Totoong Narcolist” which accused members of the presidential family and senatorial bet Christopher “Bong” Go of being involved in the illegal drugs trade.
“Wala kinalaman dito yung kay Bikoy (The Bikoy issue has nothing to do with the complaint),” said Valmores who noted that on April 24, 2018, he released videos online calling for Advincula to come out and face his obligations in the pageant.
Valmores lamented he was forced to pay a total of P304,422 to 28 persons, including the staff and the pageant winners for the event he never knew about.
“Wala akong knowledge sa in-organized niyang pageant. Nagulat na lang ako nung may complaint na (I didn’t know about the event he organized. I was surprised when there was a complaint),” said Valmores who explained he was forced to make the payments so as not to ruin the image of his firm.
The case stemmed from the event Miss Scenti Essencia Ambassadress 2018 which was held in Polangui Albay on August 11, 2018, and organized by Advincula who was only an independent distributor or seller of Ardeur’s products.
“Said pageant utilized complainant’s corporate name and logo in the promotional activities without the knowledge, authorization, and consent of the corporation,” read the complaint.
“Respondent never attended the Coronation Night and became unreachable thereafter leaving all the members of the production staff unpaid,” it added.
Because of this, the complaint said “all the pageant big winners and production staff started to communicate with the complainant and sought redress of their grievances and unpaid prizes and wages.
“Through false pretenses and use of the corporate name, the complainant was damaged financially in the amount stated above,” the complaint said.
“Respondent became untraceable and efforts to locate him to answer for his misrepresentation remained until recently where he resurfaced in a Press Conference at the Integrated Bar of the Philippines offices last May 6, 2019. finally, the undersigned now has the legal recourse against the respondent for his criminal fraudulent act,” it cited.
