Thousands of participants attended the pre-dawn fun run dubbed "Takbo Para sa Kalikasan" on Sunday at the Rizal Park in Manila which was organized for the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.

As early as 4 a.m. the runners were already assembled at the Burnham Green of Quirino Grandstand,
Representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and private companies participated in the fun run.
The run was organized by the DILG in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in a bid to inculcate public awareness in the need to support the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said the fun run also calls for rehabilitation of coastal areas and preservation of Philippine Clean Water and other natural resources.
The southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to Quirino Avenue was closed to traffic for the event.
