The San Juan City Police already identified the victim killed by a lone gunman on a motorcycle Thursday, but the motive behind the drive-by shooting is still unknown.
In a police progress report obtained by the Manila Bulletin Friday, the victim was identified as Jaylord Sapitin, 32, of Barangay Salapan, San Juan City.
“His family said that Sapitin was a cellphone technician working at Greenhills Shopping Center,” Police Senior Master Sargeant Alexander De Dumo, case investigator, told the Manila Bulletin in a text message.
De Dumo added that he still has to take the statement of the victim’s family regarding the death of their kin.
Meanwhile, San Juan City Police chief Police Colonel Ariel Fulo said the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
Sapitin was shot in broad daylight by still to be identified assailant while walking along Vicente Lim Street in Barangay Little Baguio, San Juan City around 3:04 p.m. Thursday.
Initial investigation showed that he was hit by a bullet of the still undetermined caliber of a firearm in the head, killing him instantly.
On the other hand, the gunman, who was wearing a brown jacket and black pants, was onboard a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle with no plate number.
It’s going to be challenged for the investigators to determine the identity of the killer since his face was concealed by his black helmet.

Two carnappers nabbed by police in Marikina
Two suspected carnappers, who tried to sell a stolen motorcycle, were arrested by police in an entrapment operation in Marikina City Thursday.
Operatives of the anti-carnapping unit of Marikina City Police nabbed Jayson Enotacio, 30, laborer, of Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City; and Ralph Alvin Dela Cruz, 29, sales assistant, of Barangay Marikina Heights, Marikina City around 5:15 p.m. Thursday.
Prior to their arrest, a confidential informant reported an alleged carnapped motorcycle being sold by the duo for P10,000.
Police verified that 57-year-old Nilda Tribaco filed a complaint regarding her missing Honda TMX 125cc motorcycle which was last seen parked at a gas station along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
An entrapment was then set out against the duo where they met with an undercover cop who supposedly has an interest in buying the vehicle along Champagnat Street in Barangay Marikina Heights.
After a short negotiation, police said they confirmed that the vehicle the two men are selling was indeed the missing motorcycle of Tribaco. She also positively identified that the motorcycle belongs to her.
They were apprehended minutes later and the motorcycle was recovered.
When the cops frisked them, Enotacio yielded a sachet of suspected shabu while a fam knife or “balisong” was seized from Dela Cruz, police said.
They are currently detained at Marikina City Police detention cells. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
