GENERAL NAKAR, Quezon – Five people were rescued by fishermen after their motorboat sank on its way to Catablingan shoreline in this town on Black Saturday.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Ting Avila Astrera identified the rescued boat passengers as Jhoanen Ruzol, 19, Justine,16, Jhanine, 25 months-old and all residents of Catablingan; Christian Orocay, 19, and Clark Eglesias, 20, and were both from Pasig City.
The MDRRMO received reports at 3 p.m. that the boat had sunk after being battered by big waves.
Astrera said a passing fishing boat picked up the sunken vessel’s passengers and brought to the shoreline.
The MDRRMO patrol boat retrieved the victims’ boat and victims were given first aid and medical check-up.
