Darren Espanto's mother filed a case vs. JK Labajo, lawyer confirms
Darren Espanto’s legal counsel, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, has confirmed there is an ongoing cyber libel case against JK Labajo.
In a DZMM report, Atty. Kapunan said the case was filed by Darren’s mother last March.
The Darren-JK brouhaha began when the latter allegedly posted a tweet that read: “Gayness at its finest,” tagging the former.
The “Buwan” singer denied posting it, claiming that his account was hacked that time. He also insisted his management has access to it.
In a separate interview on Cinemanews, the lawyer said: “Dalawang beses nag-hearing ’yung kaso since we filed it in March of this year and finile 'to ng mother kasi at that time minor pa rin si Darren but 'yung two hearings na 'yun sa office of prosecutor hindi nag-appear si JK and it was supposed to be submitted for decision.
“But recently when we checked the status of the case nalaman namin na kumuha siya ng abogado at nagpa-reopen ng case so nasa office of the city prosecutor 'yan kung i-reopen ang case… ‘Pag ni-reopen ang second stage niyan magfa-file siya ng counter affidavit if he so desires or meron siyang mga question and answer from the investigating fiscal,” Atty. Kapunan added.
JK and Darren were contestants in the first season of “The Voice.” The two were tagged at the time as “BFFs (best friends forever)” despite being under different coaches.
