ILOILO CITY – Former Iloilo congressman Alberto “Albertito” Javellana Lopez has died at the age of 86.
Taos Puso Foundation Inc., which was founded by former Guimaras provincial governor Emily Relucio Lopez, confirmed Lopez’s passing on Monday.
Lopez, who served as congressman of the second district of Iloilo province from 1987 to 1998, died in Metro Manila Sunday (April 7, 2019).
Lopez was from an influential political and business clan. He was the fourth child of former Vice President Fernando Lopez Sr. and Maria Javellana-Lopez. He was also the nephew of Eugenio Lopez Sr., founder of TV station ABS-CBN.
Lopez was originally married to Angelina Mejia Lopez and had four children.
His children with Emily are Alberto Fernando “Tito” Lopez III and socialite Celine Remedios Rosario Relucio Lopez.
His remains are currently at Santuario de San Antonio Parish Church in Forbes Park, Makati City. It remains unclear if his remains will be flown to Iloilo.
