Earl Patrick Forlales and Zahra Halabisaz Zanjani, cofounders of CUBO Modular, were just two of the four Filipinos recognized by Forbes.
CUBO is a firm which designs and constructs bamboo houses in just four hours. Its advocacy is to tackle the shortage of accommodation in the country with low-cost bamboo housing units, according to Forbes.
Their designs were inspired by the bamboo huts built by Forlales’ grandparents.
The 28-year-old Georgianna Carlos, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fetch! Naturals, also made it to the list.
Established in 2016, Fetch! Naturals is a premium pet care brand that uses natural ingredients such as neem or jicama for its products.
It has opened two retail locations in Manila and Los Angeles, and the products are also available in over 30 outlets in the country.
Lastly, Ken Costales is the founder and CEO of marketing firm Monolith Growth Ventures. The 29-year-old established the firm after years of working for Procter & Gamble.
The company, which serves global brands such as Fitness First, The Boston Consulting Group, Sonos, and Klipsch, has offices based in Manila and Singapore.
The selection of young entrepreneurs and rising stars came from 23 countries across 10 industries including Arts, Consumer Technology, Enterprise Technology, Entertainment & Sports, Finance & Venture Capital, Healthcare & Science, Industry Manufacturing & Energy, Media & Marketing & Advertising, Retail & Commerce, and Social Entrepreneurs.
“If you think millennials and Gen-Z are just building businesses for the short-term gain, think again. This year, it was particularly interesting to note that many of these innovators are not just driving change in the region – but working towards cementing its positive effect in the long run, especially in developing and emerging markets,” Rana Wehbe, “Forbes Under 30 list” editor, wrote.
China topped the list with 61 honorees, while India followed with 59. Japan had the third most number with 30.
Last year, five Filipinos and one Philippine-based entrepreneur landed on the list.
