Couple arrested for P30,000 worth of illegal drugs in Quezon City A couple and their cohort were arrested anew after yielding more than P30,000 worth of illegal drugs during a buy-bust in Cubao, Quezon City early Friday. Quezon City Police 7 (PS-7) commander, Lt. Col. Giovannie Caliao, identified the suspects as Melvin Sagayno, 30, his live-in-partner Risalyn Quiason, 32, and their companion Evangeline Patcheco, 48. Police report showed that personnel of PS-7 Drug Enforcement Unit received information that the suspects were peddling illegal drugs to drivers of public utility vehicles in their area. This prompted anti-narcotics officer to conduct a drug sting against the three near Puregold Cubao at Aurora Boulevard in Barangay Socorro around 1 a.m. An undercover police transacted with the group and purchased P500 worth of illegal drugs from them resulting in their arrest. Confiscated from the suspects were 34 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P34,000, a mobile phone allegedly being used in their drug transactions, and a motorcycle with plate number 7762QB. Investigation showed that Patcheco and Quiason were arrested last year also for illegal drug peddling and were released earlier this year through plea bargaining agreement at the QC Regional Trial Court Branch 80. Authorities monitored the two women and found out that they return into illegal drug trade. Arrested suspects are now under police custody and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (Alexandria San Juan) Woman loses P100,000 worth of cash and jewelry after falling prey to budol-budol gang members A woman lost more than P100,000 worth of jewelry items and money after she fell victim to suspected "budol budol" gang members in Pasay City on Thursday. She was eating inside the fast food restaurant 'Jollibee' when two women approached her and executed their modus operandi, reports said. One of them managed to flee with their loot while the other failed to escape which later led to her arrest. Police identified the arrested as Rochelle Mallare, 40, jobless, of Barangay Pinugay, Baras, Rizal. Her cohort who remains at large was identified as Rizalyn Bonifacio, 35, a native of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Meanwhile, the victim was Cristina Casimiro, 34, quality control associate, a resident of General Trias, Cavite City. Investigation disclosed that Casimiro was approached by the suspects while she was eating along Taft Avenue Extension at around 5:30 p.m. Casimiro said Mallare introduced herself and pretended to be pregnant. “Tinanong nila ako kung alam ko ba daw kung saan makakabili ng pampalaglag daw ng buntis…sabi ko wala po kasi akong alam”, Casimiro said in an interview. Mallare then offered her jewelry items which she said were from his former boyfriend who is a foreigner. Casimiro was convinced to buy them after Mallare showed her a jewelry appraisal that declared that each jewelry item costs P100,000. She gave her ring worth P65,000 as payment for the jewelry items, then withdrew P50,000 cash from a bank nearby. After Casimiro handed the money to Mallare, she then passed the money to Bonifacio who immediately fled. Casimiro finally came to her senses and grasped Mallare’s arm to prevent her from also escaping. Mallare is now under police custody and will be facing charges of robbery-extortion.
