CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet– Another plantation of marijuana were discovered and destroyed worth P70 million, during the 3-day operation under “OPLAN GREEN PEARL ALPHA by joint elements of Police Regional Office-Cordillera and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the mountainous area in Kalinga province.
P/Brig. Gen. Ephraim Dickson, regional director, said the massive marijuana eradication campaign resulted in the destruction of 337,700 fully grown marijuana plants, 20,000.00 grams of marijuana stalks and 5,000 grams of dried leaves with a total dangerous drug board value of P70,540,000.00.
The discovered marijuana plantation sites where marijuana plants were uprooted has a total land area of 18,550 square meters.at Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
He said, the OPLAN was crafted in order to clear all drug-affected barangays in Kalinga, however, prior to the operation from March 26-28, casing and zeroing of target plantation sites were made by the intelligence personnel of Tinglayan police.
Last March 14, the operatives uprooted and burned a total ofnP21, 520, 000.00) worth of marijuana plants during the Oplan Linis Barangay at Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
Dickson was overwhelmed with the significant accomplishment made in just two weeks of his headship. He commended the operating units for a job well done.
“Our operation against marijuana will continue and our anti-narcotic agents will sustain the operation and regularly visit those plantation areas to discourage the people from cultivating marijuana. We will continue to unfold more."
