By Jhon Aldrin Casinas  A policeman who was riding a motorcycle was shot dead by gunmen while riding along the southbound lane of EDSA-Connecticut in San Juan City Tuesday afternoon. Police have not yet determined the number of gunmen who shot at the policeman. (MANILA BULLETIN) Eastern Police District Director Chief Supt. Christopher Tambungan identified the victim as SPO2 Solomon Cugay, detailed at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). He said they have not yet identified the specific NCPRO division where Cugay was assigned. “The incident happened more or less 3:30 p.m. along the southbound lane of EDSA near the corner of Connecticut Street in San Juan,” Tambungan said. After the shooting, the body of the cop and his motorcycle occupied three lanes of the major thoroughfare, causing heavy traffic going towards Pasig and Mandaluyong areas. “I hope merong cctv (close-circuit television) footage dito na nakunan ng magandang shot ang mga suspect or suspects (I hope there was a CCTV there and it captured a good shot of the suspects),” the EPD chief said. He said it is still not clear how many gunmen shot the policeman. Tambungan said that they counted seven shells of spent cartridge cases, but said they are still not sure how many hit the police officer that caused his instant death.
