Faithful invited to take part in 'Confessio Peccati'

By Christina Hermoso The Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) invites the faithful to take part in the ‘Confessio Peccati’ or Confession of Sins on March 30, Saturday, at the Holy Trinity Parish in Sampaloc, Manila. Eric Adoviso will lead the event which will start at 2:30 p.m. (Confessio Pecatti rites). The Way of the Cross dubbed “Daan ng Krus, Daan ng Paghilom” follows. Reflections and prayers for various social issues will be offered in every station such as extra judicial killings, rising prices of commodities, poverty, and attacks against the Church. A Penitential Walk will be held at 3 p.m. from the Holy Trinity Parish to the St. Antony Shrine in Sampaloc, Manila. AMRSP co-chairperson Rev. Father Cielito Almazan, OFM, will lead the concluding rites at 5:30 p.m. AMRSP executive secretary Rev. Father Angel Cortez, OFM, said, the gathering “enjoins the faithful to reflect and be sorry for sins committed.” “The event is not only for priests and the religious, it is also for lay people especially the youth. As we observe the Lenten season, it is important for us to repent for sins committed. Despite the many problems and concerns that we are facing today, we must have the time to reflect, be sorry for our sins, and strive to change our ways,” Cortez said over Church-run Radio Veritas. Fr. Cortez also urged the faithful “to pray for their priests and all religious leaders” in the light of the many problems, including scandals, that the Church is facing today.
