3 rape-slay suspects killed in Lanao Norte police ops

By Philippine News Agency ILIGAN CITY -- Three suspects in the rape and killing of a 14-year-old girl were killed in three simultaneous law enforcement operations in Lala town, Lanao del Norte province at dawn Friday. Police identified the three as Arnel Albarado, 47, his brother Rodante, 38, and Vinson dela Cerna, 42, all residents of Barangay Simpak. Chief of the Lala Municipal Police, Capt. Jonan Bañas, said two operating teams were involved in serving search warrants against Arnel Albarado and dela Cerna for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions. Another team was tasked to conduct an anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation against Rodante Albarado, who allegedly fired at the poseur-buyer upon sensing that he was transacting with a police asset. Bañas said the three were the main suspects in the rape-slay of the 14-year-old teen in Barangay Simpak last month. "The (rape) case was already filed in court and we are waiting for the court to issue a warrant of arrest against them," he said. The victim, who was found a few meters away from Arnel's house, succumbed to multiple stab wounds, and her head almost detached from her body. Authorities believe the victim was killed three to four days before the cadaver was discovered because it was already decomposing.
