TRADOC welcomes 51 new second lieutenants from OPC

By Francis Wakefield In line with the efforts to recruit capable and competent Army leaders for the attainment of its mission, the Philippine Army’s Training and Doctrine Command Officer Candidate School (OCS) under the leadership of Major General Roy T. Devesa has produced 51 Second Lieutenants through the Officer Preparatory Course (OPC) Class of 69-2018 “Himaglahi” after they were declared graduates during their graduation ceremony in Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac, on Thursday, March 14. (FRANCIS WAKEFIELD / MANILA BULLETIN) (FRANCIS WAKEFIELD / MANILA BULLETIN) No less than Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana graced the activity as the guest of honor and speaker. Also present to witness the ceremony were Lieutenant General Macairog S. Alberto, Commanding General Philippine Army; Major General Rizaldo B. Limoso, Vice Commander, Philippine Army, and Brigadier General Maxima O. Ignacio, the AFP Adjutant General. The top three graduates are Second Lieutenant Mark Anthony G. Mahicon, Second Lieutenant Ramil T. Caasi and Second Lieutenant Rionne J Genosolanggao. Furthermore, Second Lieutenant Rowel Ventura received the physical proficiency award while Second Lieutenant Ronie C. Galla received the leadership award. Major Emilie C. Acerden, the TRADOC Public Affairs Officer, said the 51 new second lieutenants are now ready to start their career as military officers after finishing six months of extensive and rigorous training which equipped them the right attitude, knowledge and skills. Moreover, the Philippine Army continues to pursue its recruitment efforts and augment the needed number of competent officers through the Officer Preparatory Course (OPC) and Officer Candidate Course (OCC).
