7th ID commander visits units in Mindanao

By Francis Wakefield Brigadier General Lenard T. Agustin, commander of the Army's Seventh Infantry Division (7th ID), visited the division’s units in Mindanao from March 7 to 10. There is an infantry brigade and three infantry battalions of the 7thID which are operationally controlled by the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division. The units are the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade, 3rd Infantry (Regardless of What) Battalion, 56th Infantry (Tatag) Battalion, and the 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion. The 701st Brigade is in Mati, Davao Oriental, the 3rd IB is stationed in Davao City, the 56th IB is in Talaingod, Davao del Norte while the 71st IB is located in Mawab, Compostela Valley. One of the purposes of commander’s visit was to check on the morale of the troops and check their needs as individual soldiers and as a team. The troops deployed in Mindanao were happy in meeting their newly installed commander. Agustin said that he was delighted to meet the Kaugnay Troopers who are serving the Mindanaoans. He further expressed his appreciation to the local government units who are hosting the brigades and battalions of 7th ID as well as the units and organizations who are partners of the units in countering insurgency. "I would like to reiterate what I said during my assumption as Commander of the 7th ID that while we perform our mission, the morale and welfare of our troops shall be given equal importance," Agustin said. "My visit to their units is one simple way of reminding them that each soldier is an important element of Team Kaugnay," he added. Agustin likewise encouraged the troops to bring their suggestions or even grievances through proper channel to further enhance their morale and welfare.
