GENTLE BREEZE By  NELLY FAVIS VILLAFUERTE Nelly Favis Villafuerte Nelly Favis Villafuerte There is a Biblical prophecy which is very popular among Bible-believing Christians.  But as to whether this Biblical prophecy I am talking about has any prophetic importance, there are opposing views.  I am referring to the Blood Red Moon prophecy mentioned in the following Biblical verses: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” (Joel 2:31, King James Version) “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come.” (Acts 2:20, King James Version) “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.” (Revelation 6:12, King James Version) Also in Luke 21:25-28, we find the following: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (King James Version)

The blood moon is a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses that happen on the Jewish holidays, particularly on the Jewish Passover and on the Feast of Tabernacle. In the Book of Leviticus in the Old Testament, there are seven Jewish Holidays (Feasts) namely; Passover; Unleavened Bread; First Fruits; Pentecost; Trumpets, Day of Atonement; and the Tabernacles. These seven feasts are mentioned throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament. The so-called Blood Moon phenomenon, which is mentioned in the aforequoted Biblical verses (Joel 2:31; Acts 2:20; and Revelation 6:12) is referred to as Tetrad.  This term tetrad was coined by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) to describe a series of four blood moon back-to-back red lunar eclipses (total eclipses).

The blood moon prophecy has been causing a lot of debate.  One group says that the blood moon prophecy is an omen of the coming of the end-times as foretold in the three Biblical verses aforementioned.  Another opposing group says that the blood moon prophecy has no significance, no importance, and no relation or correlation with the end-times.

 Let me share with you some ancient historical events about Israel and total lunar eclipses.  The sources of the information being shared with you are Internet reports:
  • “Four TOTAL lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and Feast of Tabernacles in 162 - 163 AD, coinciding with the worst persecution of Jews… and Christians in the history of the Roman Empire. Within three years the Antonine Plague killed eight million people, a third of the population;
  • “Four TOTAL lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and Yom Kippur holidays in 795 - 796 AD while King Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire established a DMZ buffer zone between France and Spain, ending centuries of Arab invasions into Western Europe;
  • “Four TOTAL lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and Yom Kippur Holidays in 842 - 843 AD. Shortly after the eclipses the Vatican church in Rome was attacked and looted by an Islamic invasion from Africa;
  • “Four TOTAL lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and Yom Kippur Holidays in 860 - 861 AD. Shortly after the eclipses the Byzantine Empire defeated Arab armies at the Battle of Lalakaon in Turkey and permanently stopped the Islamic invasion of Eastern Europe;
  • “Four TOTAL lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and the Feast of Trumpets holidays in 1493 – 1494. Only months after King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain ordered all Jewish people to leave the country (after about 200 AD, Spain became and remained a second Jewish homeland for well over a millennia. So deeply woven into the fabric of Spain are the Jews that neither history can be fully studied without considering the influence of the other).
“In the same month in which their Majesties (Ferdinand and Isabella) issued the edict that all Jews should be driven out of the kingdom and its territories, in the same month they gave me the order to undertake with sufficient men my expedition of discovery to the Indies.” So begins Christopher Columbus’ diary.”

Hopefully, the debate on the significance of the blood moon prophecy will continue to escalate.  With more people participating in the debate, more people will get more curious, more inquisitive, and more challenged to read the Holy Bible.  In short, let the debate on the blood moon prophecy remain alive.
