Manila police nabbed 2 most wanted Two criminals included in the most wanted lists of police stations in Manila had been arrested. The Pandacan Police's top 3 Most Wanted Person (MWP) was nabbed by the station's Intel operatives at 2:35 p.m. on Thursday. Police identified the suspect as Amelita Villanueva, charged with theft based on the arrest warrant issued by Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 Judge Carilina Esguerra. Meanwhile, authorities also collared the fifth most wanted criminal of Malate District at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 31. Jagonie Manalipao, 26, male, single, vendor, and resident of 55 Bagong Lipunan, Baclaran, Pasay City faces a frustrated murder crime. He was along Roxas Boulevard Service Road corner Regine Torres in Paranaque City at the time of his arrest. Both Villanueva and Manalipao are now detained in the respective police stations. (Ria Fernandez) Pasig police bust 5 men in drug sting Police have arrested four drug suspects, including two men previously jailed for drug related charges, in a buy-bust operation conducted in Pasig City Thursday. Chief Insp. Allan Miparanum, Eastern Police District (EPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) chief, identified the suspects as Jayson Zamora, alias Oyo, 29; Hernan Madriano, 38; Imelda De Jesus, 44; and Jovanni Agustin, 29. All are residents of Barangay Manggahan, Pasig. “Zamora and Madriano were previously arrested for illegal drug related charges,” Miparanum said. “Our confidential informant reported the suspects to us. Their market is in Mandaluyong City since they are originally from there but they moved and rented out a place in Pasig City,” he added. Investigation showed that at around 5 p.m. Thursday, members of the EPD-DEU conducted a buy-bust sting along KC 38 Street, Karangalan in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City. Police said that an undercover cop was able to purchase a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 from the suspects. After the deal, the anti-narcotics team quickly swooped down into the room and arrested the group. Recovered were 23 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P20,000. They are now detained and will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas) Woman shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Marikina A woman who was on her way to work was shot dead in broad daylight by two motorcycle-riding men in Marikina City Friday morning. Senior Supt. Roger Quesada, Marikina City Police chief, identified the fatality as Remigia Burayag, 56, a bag maker, of Barangay Tumana, Marikina City. Initial investigation showed that at around 8:20 a.m., Burayag, who was on her way to work, was walking on the sidewalk along Malaya Street in Barangay Malanday, Marikina. Two motorcycle-riding men suddenly arrived and the backrider, described wearing a baseball cap, alighted from the vehicle and shot Burayag on the back of her head once at close range that instantaneously killed her. The gunman then quickly escaped together with his cohort who was waiting onboard the motorcycle and sped off toward J.P. Rizal Street. Recovered from the scene was a fired cartridge case of an undetermined caliber of firearm. “We already acquired a copy of the CCTV (close-circuit television) footages of the area and we will examine it,” Quesada said. The police are now investigating to identify the motive behind the killing and to arrest the suspects still at large. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas) MPD arrests 250 individuals for various violations A total of 250 individuals caught violating various laws and ordinances in the capital city were rounded up by the Manila Police District (MPD) for the last 24 hours. The Raxabago Police Station had the most number of violators swooped from 5 a.m. of Jan. 31 until the next morning of Feb. 1 at 67. It was followed by Police Stations of Moriones with 57; Sampaloc with 46; Sta. Cruz with 39; and Meisic with 23. Meanwhile, both Jose Abad Santos and Pandacan Police Stations recorded nine. The arrestees were apprehended by authorities for breaking the smoking ban, going topless, or drinking liquor in public. (Ria Fernandez) DPWH employee found dead in her dormitory in Intramuros A computer operator of the Department of Public Works and Highways was found dead inside his condominium in Intramuros, Manila on Thursday. The police identified the fatality as Edison Abarquez, around 58 to 60 years old and resident of the Walled City Dormitory in Intramuros, Manila. Investigation showed that Luzviminda Padua, landlady of the dormitory said the he saw the victim washing the dishes on Jan. 30 at around 9:00 p.m. Police said that Ernesto Sorra Jr. and other victim’s co-employees knocked several times on his room but no one answered which prompted them to ask Padua to open the door using the duplicate key. They discovered the victim’s body at around 5:10 p.m. on Jan. 31 in his dormitory. Authorities said there were no external injuries noted on the body of Abarquez during the cursory examination. The body was brought to Archangel Funeral Homes for autopsy and safekeeping. (Erma Edera) Cop hurt by rogue rider A 19-year-old motorcycle rider was arrested after he ran over a police officer in an attempt to escape a checkpoint in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City on Thursday night. Quezon City Police District director, Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., identified the suspect as Peter John Halog, a resident of San Lucas Street in Brgy. Payatas A. Police report showed that personnel of Batasan Police Station (PS-6) were manning a checkpoint at Ilang-ilang Street in Brgy. Payatas at around 11:20 p.m. Minutes later, the cops spotted Halog not wearing a protective helmet and flagged him down for a routine check after violating Section 3 of Republic Act 10054. Instead of pulling over, Halog sped away prompting PO1 John Edison Arlan-Tan to block him. However, the suspect did not stop and even rammed Tan and caused him serious injuries. The unconscious policeman was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment while other officers chased Halog who was eventually arrested. It was also found out that the suspect have no driver’s license which was believed to be the reason why he ran away from the checkpoint. Aside from traffic violations, a case of frustrated murder against Halog will be brought to the office of the City Prosecutor for inquest. The QCPD chief reiterated to the public to respect established checkpoints by pulling over when ordered. (Alexandria San Juan) 2 minors dead, 1 hurt in Caloocan fire Two minors died while one is still in critical condition after fire hit their house along M. De Castro Street, Barangay 144, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City on Friday midnight. Fire investigators identified the fatalities as Cedric James Valeros, 8; and Chloe Valeros, 6. Meanwhile, Alexandra Valeros, 4, is suffering from 3rd degree burns and is confined at the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital. Investigation showed that before the incident, the three children were asleep and were locked inside their house by their father, a certain Richard Polan Valeros, who went out to buy food. The fire started at about 12:31 a.m. and reached first alarm seven minutes later. It was put out at about 2:30 a.m. The three victims sustained 3rd degree burns and were rushed to MCU Hospital, but Cedric and Chloe died while receiving treatment. Apart from the house, a clothing store was also affected by the fire. Fire investigators are still determining the estimated worth of damages and the cause of the fire as investigation is ongoing.
