Batangas mayoral bet held over Calabarzon’s ‘most wanted’

LEMERY, Batangas – A mayoral candidate of San Nicolas town was arrested for allegedly harboring a criminal after he was caught Thursday night with his bodyguard, who is tagged as No. 2 most wanted person of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).

Senior Supt. Edwin Quilates, Batangas police director, said Lester De Sagun, 40, is now under police custody for violation of PD 1829 (harboring a criminal).

Quilates said joint personnel of Batangas, Quezon, and Region 4A (Calabarzon) Police caught him with bodyguard Miko Michael Caguitla, 26, in Barangay Bagong Sikat, Lemery, at around 10:20 p.m., aboard a pick-up with license plate DNV-778.

Quilates said Caguitla has an arrest warrant for murder issued by Judge Dennis Galahad Orendain of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 53, in Lucena City.

Also arrested were Vicente Andal, 53, and Exequiel Caringal Jr., 59, a businessman. Both are facing charges of violation of the Omnibus Election Code and PD 10591 (illegal possession of firearms)

Police seized a .45 caliber pistol from Andal while Caringal yielded an Uzi 9mm pistol. Both guns had magazines loaded with ammunition.
