DPWH Region 10 has started the construction of the Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
A total of 1.74 kilometers of the road at the Indulang section in the municipality of Talakag, Bukidnon has been concreted.
The road project with budget requirement amounting to P394.76 million, a multi-year program, will serve as a new diversion road in the province that will traverse agricultural lands within mountainous terrains of Iligan City, according to DPWH-Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan.
“Faster travel and scenic views of the forest will soon be experienced by motorists in Region 10 once the project is completed,” Tan said.
“This big-ticket project will serve as a shorter route between Iligan City and Talakag bypassing the usual route which passes through Cagayan de Oro City,” she added.
Once completed, the entire Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road will cut travel time from Iligan to Bukidnon and vice versa from three hours and 30 minutes to only one hour and 30 minutes.
“We intend to make this road open even during extreme weather conditions so that mobility will not be affected,” Tan said.
This road section in Iligan City is part of the Mindanao East-West Lateral Road that involves the opening and concreting of roads with cross drainage, safety road improvements, and lined canal, Tan added.
