Fake IDs led to arrest of graphic artist Charges were filed against a t-shirt printing shop owner who allegedly manufactures fake identification (ID) cards of schools and establishments in San Juan City Monday, a police official said Wednesday. Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes. San Juan City Police chief, said that charges of Falsification of Private Documents and Violation of Intellectual Property Code were filed at the City Prosecutors’ Office in Monday against Angelito Benipayo, 40, graphic artist, of Barangay West Crame, San Juan City. Benipayo was arrested during an entrapment operation on January 19 at his shop inside the Theater Mall in Greenhills Shopping Center. The arrest stemmed from a complaint of a university represented by Michael Jacinto Mallillin, 49, of Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City. In his complaint, Mallillin said a fake school ID was confiscated by the school security guard from a student attempting to enter the campus in Quezon City. Reyes said the student confessed that he purchased the fake ID for P350 from the t-shirt print shop of Benipayo in Greenhills, San Juan. Mallillin and the university officials then coordinated with the San Juan City Police for an entrapment operation against Benipayo. Reyes said that during the entrapment, some students arrived at the shop and asked for their fake IDs. Police seized a total of 30 fake postal, school, and company ID cards. They also seized computer sets, printers, scanners, laminating film machines and cutters allegedly used to make the fake IDs. The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as Jeffrey Javier, a native of Bayambang town in Pangasinan. Members of the Special Operations Unit and Intelligence Unit of EPD and Pasig City Police raided a house where Javier was staying along A. Policarpio Street in Barangay San Joaquin, Pasig around 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday. Judge Danilo S. Cruz of Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 152 issued the warrant against Javier. During the search, policemen seized a Colt MK IV handgun and a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with seven bullets. The firearms were all found to be unlicensed, police said. The raiding team also confiscated 30 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P16,000. Police revealed that Javier was a street-level drug pusher peddling drugs in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City. Javier will face the charge of violating RA 10591 or the Illegal Possession of Firearms and for the violation of the on-going ban on firearms and other deadly weapons in relation to the 2019 midterm polls. Additional charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against him. Police identified the victim as Mhyrraquel Singson. According to the family helper, who police identified as Rossel Villaralbo, she went to the victim's house at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday to clean. Villaralbo said the gate of the residence was open. However, no one opened the front door after she rang the doorbell twice. Upon peeking at the kitchen window, she saw Singson slumped over the kitchen sink in a pool of her own blood. She then alerted the authorities about the incident. Investigation showed that Singson got home early after taking an exam at school. Her parents were at work while her siblings were still at school. Investigators said there was no evidence of forced entry in the house, which means the assailant may be someone that the family knows. PCP Commander Harold Melgar said the brother-in-law of the victim's father is a person of interest because he was the only one who had a spare key to the victim's house. The brother-in-law of the victim's father reportedly told investigators that he took a bath at the victim's house but left at around 2:30 p.m., Melgar said. The victim showed no signs of rape as her shorts remained intact, but police are still investigating on the matter, he added. Singson was the youngest of three siblings and studied at the St. Benedict School of Novaliches. Her father is a Social Welfare Officer at the Makati City Regional Trial Court In a photo of the girl posted on Facebook, Colenso Singson, the victim's father, said "Mhyrraquel, we love you. Praying for justice. Sorry I wasn't there for you. - Papa." "Sorry di ka man lang napagtanggol ni kuya at wala ako sa tabi mo (Sorry if I wasn't able to defend you that time)," Cols Singson, the girl's older brother, said in a Facebook post. "We will miss you always, ibang iba ang bahay pag wala ka (the house is really different when you're not around). I love you, bunso!" The assailant carted away two cellphones from the house, police said. Two broken kitchen knives, the weapons used, were retrieved from the crime scene. Police Inspector Joe Mar Ronquillo, Caloocan City Police Station Investigation Unit Chief said they are looking for available close circuit television (CCTV) footage around the area. No one who may have heard or witnessed the incident has come forward to the police yet, Ronquillo said. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco) Thieves killed in separate incidents Two suspected members of "basag-kotse" gang and two alleged robbers in Quezon City were killed in separate encounters with policemen while trying to escape and resist arrest on Wednesday night and early Thursday. Investigators of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said that all the slain suspects who have yet to be identified died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies. The two alleged basag-kotse gang members, described to be in their early 30s with tattoos on their bodies, were killed shortly after they ransacked a car parked at a fastfood restaurant at Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay San Vicente, UP Bliss around 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to complainant Lorence Cordero, he left his car locked at the parking area of the restaurant and went inside the establishment to buy some foods. Upon returning, he discovered that the window on the front passenger seat of his Toyota Innova was broken and his MacBook Air laptop worth P75,000 was already missing. Personnel of QCPD Special Operations Unit (DSOU), who happened to be on the same restaurant, noticed the victim reporting to authorities which prompted them to help him. During investigation, a barker near the area told the police that he noticed two men hurriedly crossed the footbridge at Commonwealth Avenue minutes after he noticed them suspiciously roaming the area. Authorities immediately conducted a follow-up operation and followed the suspects they recognized based on the description given by the witness. The team caught after the fleeing suspects and cornered them at Arboretum Street in Barangay UP Campus, but instead of surrendering, the duo pulled out their handguns and shot at the responding cops. Policemen retaliated and hit the suspects on their bodies causing their death. The victim positively identified the recovered laptop as his, while the witness said the slain suspects were also the same men he saw roaming around the area. Also recovered in the crime scene were a caliber .45 handgun, a caliber .38 revolver, ammunition, and four sachets of shabu. Five hours after, at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday, two other suspected robbers died in a gunfight with personnel of Quezon City Police Station 6 while resisting arrest after they caught breaking the lock of a convenience store in Barangay Holy Spirit. The still unidentified slain suspects were described to be in their early 30s and late 30s, both wearing jackets and face masks, and with tattoos on their bodies. Personnel of Batasan Police Station (PS-6) said they received a phone call regarding the presence of two armed men destroying the lock of a convenience store owned by Danilo Napuli at Sto. Niño Street. Policemen were immediately dispatched to the area to verify the report where they saw the two men trying to open the store. The suspects apparently sensed the presence of the policemen who were about to approach them, prompting the two men to draw their guns and shoot at the policemen. The two men immediately boarded two motorcycles driven by their companions and fled the scene resulting in a brief running gun battle. Operatives were able to corner the suspects at St. Peter Street but instead of heeding the order of the cops, the two back riders shot it out. Officers retaliated and killed the two men who suffered multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies. The drivers of the motorbikes escaped. Recovered from the crime scene were a caliber .38 Armscor revolver, a caliber .357 Smith and Wesson revolver, and 12 sachets of suspected shabu. (Alexandria San Juan) Man with heart ailment dies at Baywalk A man died at Baywalk in Roxas Boulevard corner Pedro Gil, Malate, Manila early morning Thursday. Police identified the fatality as Ernesto Martinez, about 50 to 55 years old. He was a construction worker, who last resided at 407 Amang Rodriguez Avenue, Manggahan, Pasig City. Witness Ericson Chan, 54, said the victim was still strolling along Baywalk at around 4:45 a.m. of Jan. 24. But Martinez suddenly felt dizzy, prompting Chan to help him to lie down on a concrete dike. Moments later, Martinez was already motionless and not breathing. During the cursory examination of the body, the Police did not find any sign of physical injury. Chan then told the investigators that the victim mentioned to him about his heart ailment before he died. The Martinez’ body is now at Archangel Funeral for autopsy and safekeeping. Further investigation is underway. (Ria Fernandez) Kotong cop arrested in Taguig City An entrapment operation conducted by the operatives of the Philippine National Police-Counter Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) led to the arrest of a policeman for his alleged involvement in extortion activities yesterday morning in Taguig City. The suspect identified as SPO4 Danilo Paghubasan, deputy commander of Police Community Precinct (PCP)-9 of the Makati City police, was caught red-handed when the operatives of the CITF pounced on him. Base on the report gathered from Supt. Renante Lambojo, chief of CITF, Paghubasan was arrested at about 7:00 yesterday in an entrapment operation in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City. According to Lambojo, Paghubasan’s arrest came following the complaints of habal-habal drivers who accused him of asking P15,000 each as membership fee as well as protection in order for the drivers not to be apprehended while picking up passengers in one of the terminals in Taguig City. It was also learned that the suspect used to collect P150 daily from each of the 40 habal-habal drivers for them to be given the go-ahead signal to pass C-6 and Palar Village in Taguig City. Lambojo said he immediately ordered the conduct of a surveillance operation against Paghubasan and when the information was proven positive, an entrapment operation was laid down that led to the arrest of the suspect. Paghubasan is now under the custody of the CITF in Camp Crame where he is undergoing thorough investigation. (Jean Fernando)
