SC to honor Justice Quisumbing in Thursday's necrologial service

By Rey Panaligan The Supreme Court (SC) will honor the late Associate Justice Leonardo A. Quisumbing in a necrological service starting at 2 p.m. Thursday (January 24). Justice Leonardo Quisumbing (SC PIO/ MANILA BULLETIN) Justice Leonardo Quisumbing (SC PIO/ MANILA BULLETIN) Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin will lead the judiciary employees in honoring and paying tribute to Quisumbing who served the SC for 11 years from 1998 to 2009. Quisumbing’s remains will be brought to the SC’s session hall at 9 a.m on Thursday for viewing by judiciary officials and employees. He passed away last Sunday at the age of 79. Prior to his SC stint, Quisumbing was labor secretary, undersecretary of national defense, and senior deputy executive secretary. He also held the rank of commodore of the Philippine Coast Guard. --RGPanaligan
