By Christina Hermoso The incorrupt heart of Saint Camillus de Lellis, the revered patron saint of hospitals, nurses, doctors and the sick, and the founder of the Order of Clerks Regular Ministers to the Sick, will be in the country for the second time next month. The Camillians Philippine Province, on its Face Book page, invites the faithful to pray before the sacred relic which will make the rounds of several hospitals and parishes in about nineteen dioceses across the country. The preserved heart relic, which first visited the country in 2013 as part of a pilgrim tour in celebration of his 400th death anniversary which was observed in 2016, will arrive on Feb. 2 at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City. It will then be brought to the Our Lady of La Paz Parish in Makati City where it will stay until Feb. 4. The next day, it will visit key hospitals in Metro Manila such as the Philippine Heart Center, the Lung Center of the Philippines, the Kidney Institute, and the East Avenue Medical Center. Devotees will have two months or until March 31 to venerate the incorrupt heart of Saint Camillus. The complete list of the relic’s itinerary is posted on the FB page of The Camillians. Fr. Rodel Enriquez, MI, director of the Camillus Medhaven said, he will personally fetch the heart relic from Saint Camillus’ major shrine, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Rome, Italy, where he was buried. The priest invites every one, particularly the sick, “to be touched by the healing love of the popular saint.” A dedicated priest, confessor, and miracle worker, St. Camillus and his followers cared and treated the sick as “living images of Christ” and considered serving the sick as serving God. He was bestowed with the gifts of healing and prophecy. Born in 1550 in Chietti, Italy, he died in 1614, and was canonized by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746.
