The mother of a University of Santo Tomas (UST) student who went missing refuted her husband’s statement saying that their daughter is not yet home after a supposed immersion with the farmers in Quezon Province last December.
In an interview with The Varsitarian, UST's official student publication, Luisa Camingawan, Rizza Divine’s mother said that she was able to talk with her last Jan. 19 but she heard other voices in the background as if there were other people dictating how Rizza should respond to her.

“Boses niya , kaya lang may mga tumatawa . Tatlong babae ang naririnig ko. ako sa kaniya, may sumasagot ng isasagot niya,” (I can hear her voice but there were people laughing. There were three girls. If I ask something to her, someone seems dictating what to answer to me), Luisa said in an interview with the Varsitarian.
Rizza was last seen by her mother last Dec. 19 informing her that she will be going to a mall. Then, on the same day, she also informed her parents that she would join the immersion.
The freshman student also deactivated her social media accounts and reached out to her parents using a different mobile phone number. Luisa also said that Rizza promised to be back in March, however, she refused to continue her studies and did not enroll this semester.
Her mother also said that Rizza asked her for cellphone load on Jan. 17. Luisa is not convinced that her daughter is in Quezon Province because of their last conversation on the phone.
Roland Camingawan, Rizza’s father sought help from a radio station on Jan. 15 after his daughter went ‘missing’ after he lost contact with her on Christmas Eve.
On Jan. 17, Roland also confirmed to the Varsitarian that her daughter has returned home on Wednesday night.
In a text message, the father has also asked The Varsitarian to take down their story about his missing daughter.
The Manila Bulletin tried to contact Roland Camingawan but to no avail.
Luisa said that she will file a report with authorities and UST officials.
“Kung ako lang ang masusunod, gusto ko talaga makuha ‘yong anak ko sa lalong madaling panahon, kasi nanay ako (If I’d have my way, I really want to take my child back as soon as possible, because I’m a mom)," she added.
The League of Filipino Students (LFS)-UST said in a statement on Thursday that the immersion” was part of the student organization’s orientation.
“Nais naming magbigay liwanag na hindi nawawala si Rizza. Nakausap na ni Rizza ang kanyang mga magulang at sinabi nitong nasa maayos lang siyang kalagayan,” LFS-UST said.
“Nagkaroon lang ng usapin sa komunikasyon dahil mahirap ang signal sa lugar province,” it added.
