An employee of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) was sacked from his post over alleged corruption after receiving money for faster processing of documents, the agency said Thursday.
Both the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB have decided to terminate Richard Vallecer, who was assigned at the Message Center of the LTFRB Central Office in Quezon City, from his post due to illegal transactions.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said that an applicant presented two deposit slips amounting to a total of P45,000, which was verified to have been deposited to the account of Vallecer.
Vallecer, on the other hand, admitted to LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III that he had received payments amounting to P15,000, P20,000, and P25,000 in exchange for facilitation of several applications.
According to Tugade, Vallecer's admission to multiple illegal transactions constitutes a violation of Section 3 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and Section 7 (D) of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
The DOTr chief reiterated its warning to officials and employees of the Department and its attached agencies that sanctions await them should they engage in corrupt practices.
