LEMERY, Batangas—Laundrywoman Imelda Calapi, 55, of Calaca town said her 61-year-old husband has been in and out of the hospital due to heart ailment.
“I hoped that Malasakit Center would help us to reduce our P21,000 hospital bill, it was the third confinement of my husband since last month, in fact, we spent Christmas and New Year here” Canapi said.

A mother of a ceasarian patient, Rosemarie Noster, 53, was glad to hear that Malasakit Center is now open in Batangas, believing that it would ease Rosemarie’s financial burden.
Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that houses all concerned government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Develoment (DSWD) Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.(Pagcor), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Philhealth, making it easier for indigent patients to avail of quick medical and financial assistance from the government.
Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go on Tuesday attended the launching of Malasakit Center at Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery, the seventh such center in Luzon and the 20th in the country.
The project is the brainchild of President Duterte and Go.
The opening of the Malasakit Center in Batangas came a day after Go helped inaugurate another such center at the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City.
Go said among his plans if elected to the Senate is to push for a law for the creation of Malasakit Center in all the country’s provinces and urban centers.
The launching in Batangas was led by Presidential Assistant for Visayas Michael Dino with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rosvilinda Ozaeta, Batangas Provincial Hospital head, Dr. Danilo Aguilera, Provincial Administrator Levi Dimaunahan, Chairman of the Committee on Health Board Member Arlina Magboo, Lemery town Mayor Eulalio Alilio and other municipal mayors and top local officials.
Dr. Ozaeta in an interview said the P5 million monthly allocation would be a great help to the needy patients of the hospital which has 100-bed capacity and an average of 100 outpatients daily.
She said out of 12 public hospitals under the provincial government, Batangas Provincial Hospital is the only hospital with complete medical and laboratory facilities.
Dino said the government has plan to expand the Malasakit Center projects in different areas which aimed poor to save money, time and effort.
There are Malasakit Centers in Cebu City, Tacloban City, Iloilo City, Puerto Princesa, Bacolod City, PGH in Manila, Maasin Leyte, Dumaguete City, Davao City, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, San Fernando, Pampanga, Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Zamboanga City, Legazpi City, Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat.
