The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday expressed readiness on the possible jailing of embattled Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV in Camp Crame, Quezon City after a Makati court issued an arrest warrant against the lawmaker.

(NCRPO / MANILA BULLETIN) In a text message to the Manila Bulletin, PNP chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde confirmed the PNP has prepared its Custodial Center if ever the concerned court decides to detain the opposition lawmaker there for rebellion. The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 holds the decision where to commit Trillanes. "Yes, of course. If he will not post bail," Albayalde said when asked if the PNP is ready to accept Trillanes. Trillanes is expected to post bail for his temporary liberty. In a separate interview over CNN Philippines, Albayalde assured that maximum tolerance will be observed in serving the arrest warrant against Trillanes. A team from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and Makati city police led by its chief of police, Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon, were tasked to effect the arrest warrant, according to Albayalde. "We directed them to closely coordinate with the good Senate President (Vicente Sotto III) before they effect the arrest. We foresee no problem in the service of the warrant naman. We will also ensure maximum tolerance there," he said. Albayalde also said that Trillanes could post the bail set by the court "anytime." "He'll be documented, pwede naman doon sa (it can be done in the) Senate and he can post bail anytime also kung ayaw niya makulong (if he does not want to be jailed). Karapatan niya kasi 'yun (It's his right)," he said. The issue stemmed when President Duterte signed Proclamation 572 on August 31 and released on September 4 which declared the amnesty given to Trillanes "void ab initio" or invalid from the beginning." Duterte said Trillanes had failed to present the necessary requirements in the application of the amnesty for the Oakwood Mutiny, the Marine standoff and the Manila Peninsula siege. He also said Trillanes did not admit guilt for the supposed crimes he committed, which is a must for applicants of an amnesty. The police and military were then ordered to effect his arrest but lacking an arrest warrant, they failed to do so and Trillanes has since stayed within the Senate compound to avoid a warrantless arrest.
