Bulacan loses P86 M in agri to 'Ompong'

By Freddie Velez CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on Tuesday said that the strength of Signal 2 of typhoon “Ompong” spawned damage to agricultural crops, livestock and poultry in the amount of P86.2 million. Sy-Alvarado, said the damage to rice, vegetables and fisheries was at P84,625,330.92; while livestock and poultry losses amounted to P1,575,200. Mungcal also confirmed that 13 villages in town of Calumpit are still submerged under 1-3 feet of back floods from Nueva Ecija and Candaba, Pampanga. The 13 flooded villages are Balungao, Bulusan, Calizon, Frances, Gatbuca, Gugo, Iba O’Este, Meysulao, San Jose, San Miguel, Sapang Bayan, Sta Lucia and Sucol. Affected families are 17,016 families equivalent to 75,736 individuals. Still temporarily sheltered at the 13 evacuation centers in Calumpit are 1,109 families or 4,188 persons. As of 5 p.m. Monday, the water level of Angat Dam was at 211.84 meters, quite near to its flood season high water level of 212 meters. He said Ipo Dam was 100.93 meters (spilling level 101 meters), while Bustos Dam was at 17.10 meters (spilling level is 17.50 meters).
