Bicol school administrator apologizes for bag burning

"I’m sorry… I just wanted to discipline our students," Jaucian said. Jaucian apologized to the 28 parents who were present at the dialogue, admitting that he was carried away by his emotions after seeing that his students failed to comply with the school’s “no-bag policy” The BCA’s board of trustees has ordered a 90-day suspension without pay to Jaucian, who was also asked by the board to personally pay for the damaged items. In a viral post shared by Earl Vincent Cañaveral, an alumnus of Bicol Central Academy, he wrote: “Bags of students who failed to comply (with) the no-bag policy set for the school’s event today have been confiscated and burned in the school quadrangle.” Among the personal items burned in the incident were a laptop, a cellphone, a pocket wi-fi, clothes, and P2,500 worth of cash. The incident happened during the “Tasumaki Day” where the students were rrequired to wear formal attire. Upon seeing the students carrying huge bags despite the order, Jaucian decided to burn the bags as their “punishment.”
