Newly promoted Customs officers urged to help collect right revenue by having correct valuation on shipments

(Czar Dancel / MANILA BULLETIN) Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña during the bureau’s flag-raising ceremony encouraged all the newly promoted customs operation officers to do their job right as they play an important role in issuing correct valuation on shipments entering the Philippines. “I would like to urge and encourage our newly promoted officials -- Customs Operation Officers 3 -- (as) you are given the responsibilities, mostly as examiners, at kayo ‘yung makakatulong sa bagay na ito -- ‘yung pangongolekta ng tamang revenue by having a correct valuation ng mga pumapasok na mga shipments dito sa ating bansa (and you will be of great help in collecting the right revenue by having the correct valuation on the shipments entering the country),” Lapeña said before all Customs personnel. “Do your part, correct it. Do your job right even without the watch or supervision of your senior officers,” the commissioner added. Yesterday, employees who were never promoted despite many years of service in the bureau took oath as Customs Operation Officers 3. According to Lapeña, two were promoted to a higher rank after 30 years while one officer has never been promoted for 27 years. “Do what is right even if you are not being supervised and as COO3 and as examiners what you have to do is the correct valuation, no more, no less. Malinis ang konsensiya ninyo (You have a clear conscience),” Lapeña said.
