Arrested shirtless loiterer turns out as drug suspect

Loitering in the street led to the arrest of a drug suspect who was reportedly included in the drug watchlist in Caloocan City Saturday night.

Police Officer 1 Rafael Tuballas identified the suspect as Jester Sagaran, 29, construction worker, of Barangay 175 in Caloocan.

Sagaran was reportedly included in their barangay's drug watchlist under the pusher category, Tuballas said.

Initial investigation showed that Sagaran was initially apprehended by elements from Police Community Precinct 5 for being shirtless along Franville Street around 10:30 p.m.

However upon frisking, a sachet of suspected shabu was allegedly seized from him.

Police said Sagaran admitted being a drug user but denied selling illegal drugs.

Charges will be filed against Sagaran who is now detained at the city police detention cell. (Kate Javier)

Security guard fires warning shot killing 2 boys who took steel scrap

A supposed warning shot from a security guard hit and killed two boys aged 12 and 13 who allegedly took steel scrap in a construction firm in Quezon City, Friday night.

Supt. Joel Villanueva, chief of Quezon City Police District-Batasan Police Station 6, identified the minor victims as Angelo Lorenzo,and Joshua Aguirre, both students of Payatas Elementary School.

Initial report showed that victims sneaked into a hole of the galvanized fence of Baseline Construction Corporation on Farmers Street in Barangay Payatas past 3 p.m.

According to suspect Jhonell Cordonez, 22, security guard of the construction firm, the two boys always enter their site and took away scrap steel.

Cordonez said he took his 12 gauge shotgun and fired a warning shot once which slipped and accidentally hit the two children.

The suspect went back to the guard house and told his security officer about the incident who sought help from authorities.

The boys died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies..

Investigator on case said Cordonez failed to present a firearm license.

Cordonez' employer, Duralex Security Agency, also kept mum on the incident, the investigator said.

The QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit took custody of Cordonez who will face charges for murder in relation to Republic Act. 7610 or law against child abuse. (Alexandria San Juan)

Teenage boy’s body found floating in Pasig River

A body of a teenage boy was found floating by crewmen of a passing cargo vessel along the Pasig River yesterday morning.

The male victim, reportedly around 15- to 17-years-old, between 5'2" and 5'4" in height and clad only in black jogging pants, was discovered by a certain Larry Formador yesterday, case investigator SPO3 Jonathan Bautista said

Formador, who works as a chief mate in the cargo vessel "Princess Christine" told investigators that as their cargo ship reached the DPWH barge storage located at the Pasig River Parola Compound in Binondo, Manila, he noticed the victim's body floating along the river, prompting him to contact the Coast Guard Delpan Station.

Responding personnel immediately went to pick up the body and brought it to the Philippine Coast Guard Parola Headquarters.

Investigators reported that no sign of physical injury was found on the body. The body was then brought to the Archangel funeral parlor for safekeeping. No one has claimed the body of the victim as of this writing. (Hans Amancio)
