Suspected drug pusher killed, policeman injured during encounter after drug bust A suspected drug pusher was killed while a police officer was injured during an encounter in Valenzuela City Friday morning, a belated report said. Police identified the fatality as Bonifacio Manalo, 34, welder, a native of Pampanga. Anti-narcotics operatives from the city's drug enforcement unit launched a buy-bust operation against Manalo after receiving reports about his alleged involvement in illegal drug trade. During the transaction in Barangay Gen. T. De Leon around 7:30 a.m., Manalo fired at the operatives, hitting PO1 Maverick Jake Perez in his right shoulder. Other operatives retaliated and shot Manalo in the chest. Both men were brought to Valenzuela Medical Center where Manalo was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Perez is now in stable condition. Police said they recovered at least 11 sachets of suspected shabu and a caliber. 38 revolver from Manalo. (Kate Javier) Drug peddler killed in shootout with cops after buy-bust ops in cemetery A suspected drug peddler was killed after allegedly engaging anti-narcotics operatives in a shootout last night inside the Manila North Cemetery in Sta. Cruz, Manila. The suspect, identified as Alexander Dimalanta of 1789 Antipolo St. Sta. Cruz sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of the body leading to his death, P/Supt. Robert Casimiro Domingo said. Elements of the Manila Police District Station 3 led by PCI Edison Quano conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspect on June 14 at around 6:20 p.m. along 2nd St., Manila North Cemetery. Upon sensing the police presence during the drug transaction, the suspect reportedly drew his firearm and fired shots at the cops, prompting the police to retaliate. After the brief shootout, the suspect was brought to the Chinese General Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival. Authorities recovered P3,000 worth of suspected shabu and a caliber .38 from the slain suspect. (Hans Amancio) 3 drug suspects nabbed during anti-criminality ops in Caloocan Smoking and being shirtless in public place led to the arrest of three drug suspects during an anti-criminality operation in Caloocan City yesterday morning. Police identified the suspects as Jonathan Mendoza, 23, jobless, of Caloocan; Brandon Buenaventura, 42, waiter, of Caloocan; and Jovanni Colarina, 30, jobless, of Quezon City. A team from Police Community Precinct 7 led by Senior. Insp. Michael Noel Hidalgo conducted an Oplan Galugad along Magdalena Street in Barangay 163 around 5 a.m. During the operation, the team caught Mendoza being shirtless while Buenaventura and Colarina were smoking. Police said that upon frisking, five plastic sachets of suspected shabu were seized from them. According to investigator on case PO1 Juan Miguel Madlangbayan, Buenaventura and Calorina admitted being drug users. They told police that Mendoza was their source of illegal drugs. However, Madlangbayan said Mendoza denied the allegations. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the three men. (Kate Javier) Policeman victimizing fellow cops arrested for 10 counts of estafa   A senior police officer who was wanted for estafa was arrested inside his home in Quezon City yesterday afternoon after swindling money through an investment which turned out to be a scam. Quezon City Police District Director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr., identified the cop as SPO1 Honorio Negrito, 52, a resident of West Crame, Quezon City. Esquivel said Negrito was nabbed inside his house on Road 2 in West Crame, around 4 p.m. yesterday in virtue of an arrest warrant for 10 counts of Estafa issued by Judge Edith Mina-Aguba of QC-Regional Trial Court Branch 100. A report said Negrito started encouraging his fellow policemen in joining an investment program since 2005 which turned out to be a scam. Investigation showed that Negrito promised his victims a monthly interest of P6,000 for every P100,000 they would invest. However, the suspect failed to pay the interest to the investors prompting them to file a complaint and a case against him. Negrito, on the other hand, gave different explanations to the victims on where the money went. The court has set a bail of P400,000 for the suspect's temporary liberty. Negrito was assigned at the QCPD-Cubao Police Station (PS-7) prior to his arrest. He is now detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit at the QCPD-Headquarters in Camp Karingal. (Alexandria San Juan) Jealous Korean stabs Filipina wife in their Parañaque house A 25-year-old Filipina was critically injured when stabbed by his Korean husband over jealousy in Parañaque City. The victim was identified as Eulor Zabal Kim and a resident of Elysium Village, Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque City. She is still in serious condition at the Philippine General hospital due to several stabbed wounds in the body. According to the Parañaque City police, the incident happened on June 13 at about 12:30 a.m. inside the house of the duo. The police said the incident was only reported to them by the barangay yesterday and a follow-up operation was immediately made for the arrest of the suspect identified as Engr. Kim Bong Kyun, 44. He is now facing charges of parricide. The police said that prior to the stabbing incident, the duo had a heated argument. The suspect claimed that the victim had a relationship with another man causing him to confront his wife and a heated argument ensued between them. (Jean Fernando)Two persons involved in robbery holdup, illegal drugs killed in separated encounters with cops Two persons involved in robbery holdup and illegal drugs were killed in separate encounters with the police in Taguig and Pasay City early this morning. In Taguig City, the suspect was identified as Michael Jay dela Cruz, a member of “Carl Gonzales robbery group” with operation in Taguig and Parañaque City. He died after suffering several gunshot wounds in the body. According to Southern Police District spokesperson, Supt. Jenny Tecson, Dela Cruz engaged in a shootout with members of the Taguig City police who were conducting follow-up operation against him at about 3:10 a.m. along Block 1, Purok 13, Barangay South Daang Hari, Taguig City. Tecson said that based on the report of the Taguig City police, Dela Cruz took the gun of PO1 JcMar Pahitong, assigned at the Police Community Precinct 3 of the said police station and a resident of #439 Purok 6-B, MLQU St., Brgy. Lower Bicutan yesterday. Aside from the policeman service firearm, 9mm clock 17, the suspect also took Pahitong cash and cellular phone. The SPD spokesperson said the incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. along Buendia Avenue Extension, Pasay City Tecson said that policeman poseur-buyer, PO3 Carlo Sison was able to buy from the suspect two sachets of suspected shabu.
