Kian was already on the ground when he was shot -- NBI rep
The 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos was already on the ground when he was shot possibly by two persons, a representative from the National Bureau of Investigation said during a trial today.
The testimony of Hiyasmin Abbarientos of the NBI was entered as evidence in the murder and planting of evidence raps filed before the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 125 against former Caloocan cops --- PO3 Arnel Oares, PO1 Jeremiah Pereda and PO1 Jerwin Cruz.
Citing an after report, Abarrientos said results of ballistic examination showed that the bullets were fired on downward direction.
"Based on the trajectory examination, the first bullet dent found at the lower part of the concrete fence and the second bullet dent found at the wooden that hit the adjacent concrete fence were fired on downward direction inclining to the right," Abarrientos explained.
"Examinations showed that it is possible that it is caused by shots from two persons," she added.
The NBI team also recovered a lead core of a caliber 9mm jacketed bullet when they conducted an onsite investigation on August 21, five days after Kian's death.
Kian, who sustained gunshot wounds in the head and back, died at the hands of former Caloocan cops on the night of August 16, 2017.
The accused claimed that the minor engaged them in a shootout during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay 160, Libis Baesa.
However, a CCTV footage and witnesses belied the police's claim.
