Lendy Tayag on boosting one's creativity with LEGO bricks

Filipino fan-designer of LEGO Ideas Voltron Leandro (Lendy) Tayag shared his thoughts on how LEGO bricks boost one’s creativity. The model-kit building enthusiast explained that using LEGO bricks gives a person lots of opportunities to overcome limitations. It is up to the builder to think on how he or she will find different ways to complete a model or a piece. Moreover, a lot of trial and error is to be expected. One will be able to know what works and what doesn’t work. Tayag also expressed his admiration for the younger generation who are into LEGO bricks. “Mas creative ang kids kesa sa mga matanda (The kids are more creative than adults),” he said. The LEGO fan-designer even described the children as very open-minded because of their wide imagination. “Wala silang iniisip na limitations, gawa sila ng gawa (They don’t think about the limitations. They just do what they have to do),” he added. Tayag is a software architect based in Malaysia who is known for his Voltron creation in a platform called LEGO Ideas – where builders submit their designs which LEGO will be reviewing once the design garners 10,000 supporters. Tayag’s Voltron model reached 10,000 supporters in a span of only three weeks. LEGO will be releasing an official LEGO set based on his design soon.
