Taiwanese authorities have arrested Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo 'Ardot' Parojinog who is wanted in the Philippines for illlegal drug charges. (Photo from the Misamis Occidental Provincial Government website/MANILA BULLETIN) Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PNP spokesperson, said it would depend on the police authorities in Taiwan whether they would deport Parojinog back to the Philippines or let him face his trial there. "We are not sure when he will arrive here in the country because there is a process that has to be followed in his deportation. Based on the reports, he violated immigration law in Taiwan so it is likely that there will be an investigation and if he needs to be detained, he will probably be detained there," Bulalacao said in a television interview. However, Bulalacao said the doors of the detention facility of Camp Crame is open to the apprehended councilor "temporarily" and a unit is being prepared to escort him from Taiwan back to the Philippines. "If in case he is brought back here in the Philippines, we can accommodate him temporarily at Camp Crame but the thing is, the warrant issued against him must be sent back to the court of origin and that is in Taiwan," he explained. The PNP spokesperson also confirmed they received information from intelligence operatives that Parojinog's arrest came after "persons close to him," including his former colleagues, tipped the police about his whereabouts. "He is considered by Philippine authorities as a 'big fish' because he is included in the narco-list of the President," Bulalacao said. Parojinog was also tagged by Ozamiz City Police as among the leaders of a notorious criminal group "involved in a number of illegal activities," Bulalacao added. Parojinog was arrested in Pingtung County, Taiwan Wednesday night after he allegedly used illegal immigration documents to enter the country, thus ending his 10-month of hiding from the law. The Parojinog clan has been tagged by President Duterte as the key players in the proliferation of illegal drugs not only in Ozamiz City but in the entire Northern Mindanao. The apprehended councilor is the younger brother of the late Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo "Aldog" Parojinog, who was slain together with his wife and 13 others in a police operation in July 2017. Ardot has since gone into hiding after the bloody raid. Aldog's children, Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and Reynaldo Parojinog Jr., have been facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and cache.
