After the P80-million sponsorship deal for the food tourism project Buhay Carinderia controversy, Cesar Montano has tendered his resignation as Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) chief, confirmed on Monday.

“In faithful adherence to my duty as a public servant, I am respectfully tendering my courtesy resignation as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) effective immediately,” Montano wrote in a letter addressed to President Duterte through Special Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go.
“I am truly grateful for the trust and the opportunity you have bestowed upon me to serve our country through the Tourism Promotions Board,” he added.
The actor was also asked to explain after he reportedly rushed his speech during a speaking engagement in New York City to watch a Broadway musical.
Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has recently ordered the suspension of the 'Buhay Carinderia' project, pending a review by the Commission on Audit. (with reports from Analou De Vera)
