The spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Joint Task Force (JTF) Ranao Monday announced the arrest of seven people, including a municipal mayor, for violation of the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

AFP-JTF Spokesman Colonel Romeo Brawner Jr., identified the arrested persons as Pantar, Lanao del Norte Mayor Jabar Tago, Jamaloding Tago, Janoding,
Rehan Gumpal, Abdul Racman Gumpal, Kiram Ampuan, and Nasroding Lao.
Brawner said that base on reports he received, tbe law enforcement operation
took place at about 6 a.m Monday at Brgy. Sundiga Punod, Pantar, Lanao del Norte.
He said troops from the 2nd Mechanized Brigade and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Pantar raided the compound of Mayor Jabar Tago which also led to a brief encounter between the two sides.
No casualties were reported on either side.
The government forces recovered nine high powered firearms, five pistols, a shotgun
and assorted ammunition during the conduct of the operation.
Based on records, Mayor Jabar Tago, Jamaloding Tago, and Janoding Tago are facing respective cases filed in the courts
for frustrated murder (on bail) and another for murder filed at Branch 5 of the Iligan Cty Regional Trial Court.
Meanwhile, Kiram Ampuan was included in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) Narcotics Drug list after he was allegedly invited as drug pusher in Metro Manila.
The suspects will be facing violation of Republic Act No.10591 or an Act Providing for a Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and Providing Penalties for Violation thereof and the Comelec Gun Ban.
