Laurel, Batangas — Two policemen, one of them an intelligence officer of the Batangas Police Provincial Office (PPO), and two robbery-holdup suspects were killed in a shootout in this town the other day.
Senior Superintendent Alden Delvo, Batangas PPO director, identified his slain men as Sr. Inspector Alvin Kison, 26, assigned to the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), and Senior Police Officer 2 Edilberto Eje, 38, a member of the Laurel Municipal Police Station (MPS).
They died while being treated for their bullet wounds at the St. Cabrini Hospital in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
Delvo also identified the slain suspects as Erwin Ariola and Darren Suarez.
He said a team from the Laurel MPS, backed up by a PIB team, was conducting surveillance operations against members of a robbery-holdup group in Barangay Berinayan, here, when the encounter broke out at 4:20 p.m. last Thursday.
