Imus, Cavite — At least 30 drug pushers and users were arrested in police operations last week in Cavite province’s seven districts.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported that on Friday alone, eight drug suspects were arrested in Barangay Salinas I, Bacoor District; Barangays 56 and 48-A in Cavite City and Julugan VII and Milagrosa in the municipalities of Tanza and Carmona.
Friday, Thursday and Tuesday had the most number of drug arrests, based on the daily reports that the PPO released to media since Monday.
All local police stations in the Cavite’s seven cities and 16 municipalities had been ordered to conduct the raids against criminality particularly illegal drugs and illegal gambling during Holy Week.
The PPO placed the entire province on full alert during that period.
It said 95 individuals were also rounded up in operations against “tupada” (illegal cockpit), “cara y cruz” (coin play) and other prohibited gambling games from Monday to Saturday.
The raids also netted 17 wanted persons,.
Cavite had the highest number of arrests in terms of illegal drugs in Region IV-A in the last three months and the previous year, the regional police command said. Region IV-A comprises the Calabarzon or the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon areas.
