Band in-between

AUDIO JUNKIE: It's a fact that bands come and go. This piece, however,is about young local band Not Informed that's somewhere within the two points. Not Informed bamd (Facebook) /mb.com.ph Not Informed bamd (Facebook) Formed in 2011 in Taft, Manila at the College of Saint Benilde by schoolmates Junno Serdoncillo on vocals and rhythm guitars, lead guitarist James Ronquillo, newly added drummer Francis “K-Gie” Germedia and Ed Thompson on bass, Not Informed is an energetic pop punk band that cranks out melodic, guitar-driven originals. The band released the EP “Our Time” back in 2015 and they thought then success was inevitable. “We thought that once we got in, we would be all right,” shared Junno. As it turned out, it wasn’t so easy-peasy. The band members admitted they weren’t really prepared to go all out at the time. School commitments, money matters and personal issues compounded a situation that their lead singer described as "a total mess." It's just too bad because sound-wise, the band really kicked some major behind. Their music is like Blink 182, Lit and All-Time Low with some Silent Sanctuary thrown in, but with a bit more edge and a local flavor. At least that’s how songs from the EP like “Bestfriend,” “Favorite Song (Like I Mean It),” and “Only You” sounded and felt. But as Junno said, “we weren’t really able to give it our best.” Fast forward to the present. Not Informed is under new management, there’s a new distribution deal with Warner Music, and of course, a new song. Titled “Sige Na (Sayang Ka),” it is spirited piece of pop punk, with high-gain guitars at the fore. The sound is bouncy, the singing animated and the theme quirky, current. It’s the sound you would hear from a group that’s rejuvenated or a band with a vision. “We're ready to push this thing as far as we can,” according to Junno. “Our mission is to give listeners the original signature OPM rock we grew up with and cared about, with a bit more of grit and kick to it.” Not Informed single art cover (mb.com.ph) /mb.com.ph Not Informed single art cover With a couple more singles in the can, like the mellowed down "Questions," the Parokya-cum-Sponge Cola-esque "Soulmate," and straight ahead pop-flavored Pinoy rock of "Litrato" ready for release for the duration of 2018, the band looks more poised to win bigger this time around. “We have all now have our families' and friends support backing us. We upgraded to a new recording studio, and used all that we learned from our previous mistakes. The band is better in terms of skill, moral support, funding, overall morale and confidence, strategy, and outlook. "With more people supporting our cause, we are more confident in handling all the challenges ahead of us. We know we have a lot of obstacles ahead but with a new mind set, we're ready to take them on."
