Six druggies nabbed in Payatas At least P80,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized from six alleged drug personalities in a drug bust, which turned into a shootout in Quezon City Tuesday afternoon. Superintendent Rossel Cejas, chief of Quezon City Police District-Batasan Police Station (PS-6), said the shootout wounded drug suspect Ramil Calzado, 22, a resident of Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, who was included in the drug watch list. Joint operatives of Station Drug Enforcement Unit of PS-6 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a drug sting against Calzado and Enrique Quiambao, 32, also of Barangay Payatas at the latter's house along La Trinidad Street, Payatas B at around 4:30 p.m. An undercover policeman bought a P500 worth of shabu from Calzado and Quiambao. After the transaction, the two reportedly sensed that they were dealing with a police officer, prompting them to run inside Quimbao’s house. Police said that Calzado drew a caliber 38 handgun and opened fire at the operatives who shot back, wounding the suspect in his right leg. Upon injuring Calzado, authorities were able to arrest four other drug suspects inside Quiambao's house, namely: Fedelito Calzado, 52, Remigio Calzado, 22, Ringo Bunuan, 43, all from Barangay Payatas, and Mark Atanacio, 26, of Barangay Commonwealth. Police were able to seize from them 28 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of 80,000, two small weighing scales, drug paraphernalia, the marked money, and an unlicensed caliber 38 revolver with ammunition. The arrested persons, who are now under custody of the QCPD, will be facing drug-related charges while a separate case of illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions will be filed against Calzado. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan) ​4 drug peddlers fall in Taguig Four alleged drug peddlers were arrested by police on Tuesday yielding P30,000 worth of shabu, following a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives from the District Drug Enforce Unit of the Southern Police District in Taguig City on Tuesday. Police arrested construction workers Dennis Ditchie, 40, and Patrick Cruz, 18, along with Odin Blah, 35, carpenter, and Trisha Cruz, 18, all residents of Frevida St., Purok 2A, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. Investigation showed that DDEU operatives conducted a drug sting operation about 5 a.m. at #42 Frevida St., Purok 2 A, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. Police successfully purchased shabu from the suspects worth P2,000. During the arrest, authorities recovered from their possession 11 sachets of shabu worth P30,000 and the buy-bust money. Cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be charged against suspects Ditchie and Cruz. On the other hand, Trisha Cruz and Blah will be charged with violation of sections 11 and 26-B of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.  (Glendel Nazario) One dead, 2 injured in motorcycle collision A lady motorycle backrider was killed while two others were reportedly injured after their vehicles collided Tuesday night in Parañaque City. The fatality, identified by police as Eden Perez, was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Parañaque after she suffered severe injuries to the head and body. The two riders, identified as Jayson Gredoña of Sitio Sampalocan, Brgy. San Martin De Porres, and Romeo Badil were brought to the same hospital due to injuries they sustained in the body. Investigation by the Parañaque City Traffic Enforcement Unit showed that the incident occured at around 11:00 p.m. along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, right in front of PCP 4, at Brgy. San Martin De Porres in Parañaque. Gredoña was driving a Honda Click Motorcycle while Perez was riding with him traversing the northbound lane of the Ninoy Aquino Avenue. Badil was driving a Rusi Motorcycle at the Westbound lane of Amvel Avenue. The two reportedly collided when they failed to hit the brakes on time upon reaching the intersection. Due to the force of the impact, Perez was thrown a few meters away. All victims were brought to the said hospital where Perez was declared dead on arrival.
