Thus, said a handicapped Batangueña while adressing an assembly of members of the federation of Women With Disability (WWD) -Batangas chapter here Thursday.
Hildegonda M. Del Mundo, president of the Women With Disability (WWD)-Batangas provincial federation,
spearheaded the activities lined up by the federation for the Women's Month celebration this month.
Del Mundo and federation members, composed of WWD chapter presidents in Batangas’ 33 cities, are engaging the PWD sector to join the activities starting with the federation assembly which mark the International Women’s Day on Thursday.
In a report on Friday, Batangas public information office chief Jenelyn A. Aguilera said the federation membership met Thursday in coordination with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at the Provincial Capitol here where they drew up the activities lined up for the month-long observance.
Del Mundo said the WWD group will be conducting their free pap smear for every 10 persons per town, film showing, orientation sessions on legislations and privileges for Persons With Disability (PWDs) and sharing of success stories among PWDs.
She said the Batangas WWD plans to host a leadership seminar and livelihood trainings for the PWDs such as on the production of stylized slippers, hair re-bonding and massage as income generating project and livelihood support programs for the PWD sector.
“Hindi hadlang sa isang kababaihan ang kapansanan upang magtagumpay sa buhay (disability is never a hindrance for any woman for her to succeed in life),” Del Mundo said during the assembly.
She said that every person, especially among the WWD should not lose hope but rather strive to assert their rights and prove they are able to do the best they can.
Del Mundo said the handicapped women’s group is also planning to conduct medical mission, counseling and join in the “Alay Lakad” (walk-for-a-cause) charity drive and a personality pageant that would showcase their talent in 2019.
