All is well that ends well.
Director General Ronald dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), took the initiative to end the word war with Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano over the issue of the ongoing war on drugs.
The word war started when dela Rosa insinuated that Alejano has no credibility to talk about the specifics of the war on drugs since his background is on military being a former Marine officer and not a policeman.
This is in reaction to the earlier observations made by Alejano about what appears to be a pattern of slain drug users and pushers yielding .38 revolver most of the time.
In return, Alejano said he is not voicing out his observations as a former Navy officer but a legislator, adding that one does not need to be a policeman to point out such kind of observation which in the first place came from police reports.

"Noted, Congressman Sir. I made that comment because the interview was held at the Borromeo Field (Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City) so what was in my mind was that I am a police officer and he is a Marine officer," dela Rosa said.
Both dela Rosa and Alejano are products of the PMA, Class 1986 and Class 1995, respectively.
Dela Rosa admitted that the data being cited by Alejano is indeed from the PNP. But he was quick to state that it is but a proof of transparency in the PNP.
"Those are hard facts, his observation that the operation is always nighttime. He was speaking based on facts but what we appeal is for them not to put malice on that," dela Rosa said.
The official explained that the operation usually happens at night because it is the time when drug transaction of pushers and users are happening.
In last month's official relaunch of anti-drugs war, the PNP leadership included in the guidelines that drug operations should be at daytime.
Earlier, Alejano said dela Rosa should not take his observations personally since he is also after the welfare of the entire police organization.
Dela Rosa, on the other hand, acknowledged the efforts of Alejano.
"We will take the recommendations from the good congressman. I know that in his heart is not all criticisms but good intentions for the PNP," dela Rosa said.
In fact, he has some bills for the welfare of the PNP and I appreciate that. I would thank the congressman for his efforts in our search to improve the performance of the PNP," he added.
