Wanted man nabbed after he shot man he had argued with years ago
A wanted man was arrested in Pasig City Sunday after he allegedly shot a man he had an altercation with two years ago.
Police identified the suspect as Gerardo Dela Paz, 51, of Barangay Sto. Tomas, Pasig.
Police said Dela Paz was the suspect in the death of Giovani Sulat after the suspect allegedly shot the victim on his nape after the two had a heated argument on December 8, 2016 at around 9:30 p.m.
Members of the Pasig City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section arrested Dela Paz at around 5 a.m. in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on December 23.
His arrest was made by the virtue of a nonbailable arrest warrant issued by Judge Rowena De Juan Quinagoran of Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 166 for the crime of murder dated March 27, 2018.
Moreover, the suspect was collared after authorities received a text message from an unknown informant saying Dela Paz was seen going to the Basic Church in Sta. Rosa, Laguna every Sunday morning.
The suspect is now behind bars and his court of origin will be notified of his arrest. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
10 druggies nabbed in QC on Christmas day
Ten illegal drug suspects were arrested by the police during its simultaneous anti-criminality operations in Quezon City early Christmas day.
First to fall in the hands of Quezon City Police Station 1 personnel were Francis Mullon, and Hadrian Bantolinao, both 19 and residents of Brgy. Doña Imelda.
The two men were initially flagged down by members of PS-1 Tactical Motorcycle Rider for driving a motorcycle without helmet on the corner of G. Araneta Avenue and Quezon Avenue in Brgy. Sto. Domingo at around 1 a.m., Tuesday.
However, when policemen frisked them, they yielded some drug paraphernalia with traces of illegal substance.
Meanwhile, four were rounded up by personnel of Project 4 Police Station (PS-8) namely Gonzalo Morales Jr., 40; Kenneth Fuentes, 28; Renato Flores, 34; all from Brgy. Pansol and Mayella Natividad, 26, of Candaba, Pampanga.
Members of the District Enforcement Unit of PS-8 conducted a drug sting against the suspects at Kaingin 1 in Brgy. Pansol around 3 a.m.
The bust resulted in the confiscation of seven sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money.
An hour after, same personnel nabbed suspects Ar-jay Yap, 25, Allan Ng, 42, Evelyn Morillo, 52, all from Brgy. Culiat and Monica Fabrigas, 36, of Brgy. Tandang Sor.
The apprehension of the suspects was a result of a drug sting held by PS-8 anti-narcotics unit at Purok 1 in Barangay Culiat about 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Seized from them were seven sachets of shabu and the marked money.
Arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Alexandria San Juan)
Man rushed to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds on Christmas Eve
Due to a heated argument, a man spent Christmas Eve at the hospital after he was shot multiple times by a man he had a fight with on Monday in Pasay City.
The victim was identified as Raymark Saludares, 21, a resident of Tramo St., Brgy. 57, Zone 8, Pasay City. The suspect remains at large, and was identified as John Paul Ferrer, 20, a resident of Glori St., M Dela Cruz St., Pasay City.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 5:15 in the morning along Tramo St., corner Lakandula St., Barangay 66, Zone 8, Pasay City.
According to the police, Saludares and Ferrer had a heated argument along Arnaiz Avenue, in front of a fast food chain which resulted to a fist fight.
Police said that the victim ran along Lakandula St., but the suspect Ferrer on board a motorcycle, with two unidentified companions caught up with the victim on the said street and shot him with an unknown caliber of firearm.
The victim sustained gunshot wound on his left arm and on his right buttock. After the incident, the suspect fled onboard a black motorcycle heading towards Arnaiz, Makati area.
The victim was rushed to Pasay City General Hospital and is now in a stable condition. Police are now conducting follow-up operations to locate the suspect. (Dhel Nazario)
Gunman nabbed after shooting barangay official
A gunman was arrested shortly after he shot a barangay councilperson on duty in Ermita, Manila last Christmas Eve.
Police identified the suspect as Rodney Santos, 40, male, member of the dreaded Batang City Jail gang, and resident of 7th Street, Mabalacat, Pampanga.
On the other hand, the victim was Aleya Bidua, 42, female, and resident of 1141 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was at work when the suspect approached and shot her on the face for unknown reason inside the barangay hall of Barangay 670, Zone 72, District V at around 3:30 p.m. last Dec. 24.
Thereafter, the suspect fled on foot bringing with him the weapon he used.
However, people who witnessed the crime immediately chased him and shouted “Harang! Binaril si Kagawad! (Block . shot Kagawad.)"
The commotion caught the attention of the patrolling police, who eventually responded and arrested the suspect.
Pieces of evidence recovered from the suspect were an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol, a magazine with six live ammo, and a spent shell stuck on the ejector.
Meanwhile, the victim, who sustained injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Cases of frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition are now being readied against the suspect. (Ria Fernandez)
Man dies in tricycle-van collision in Navotas
A man died when the tricycle he was riding collided with a van at Barangay North Bay Boulevard South, Navotas City a few hours before Christmas Eve.
Police identified the fatality as Alfredo Cubillan, 53, resident at Magsaysay Extension, Barangay San Agustin, Malabon City; and the suspect as Roland Faustino Gatus, 37, resident at Malinta, Valenzuela City.
Investigation showed that Cubillan’s tricycle was parked along North Bay Boulevard, near Agora Market when Gatus’ speeding van headed towards north slammed on the tricycle.
Cubillan’s left arm and leg were injured in the crash.
Both vehicles sustained damages on the front and left side.
The victim was brought to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center where he died while receiving medical treatment.
Gatus, who is now under police custody, will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
The vehicles involved were also placed under police custody for proper disposition. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
