Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatalities as Ryan Rigueros, 31, the owner of the house; construction workers Benito Añora, Rey Diestro, John Gabin, and Donald Conde who were building the house; and Nilo Manguso, a security guard.
Police report showed that the men along with injured victims Efren Milan, also a construction worker, and Fredelito Rigueros, a taxi driver, were at the second floor of the two-story house under renovation beside Culiat River in Sitio Bathala, Barangay Bahay Toro around 9:30 p.m.
While the group was having a drinking session, the house suddenly collapsed and the victims were pinned by the concrete debris submerging them in the river.
Some neighbors saw the incident and immediately sought help from authorities and tried to help the victims with rescue members of Quezon City Risk Reduction Management Office, Bureau of Fire Protection-QC, and Red Cross-QC.
Responding rescuers were able to retrieved all the bodies of the victims out of the water and rushed them to Quezon City General Hospital where the six men were declared dead on arrival..
The bodies of the fatalities are still at the hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, Fredelito and Milan who were also brought to the same hospital survived the crash and now being treated after sustaining injuries on their bodies.
Probers are looking into the possibility of a weak foundation of the house or the ground where it was built might have softened due to continuous downpour.
Further investigation is underway to shed light on the incident.
