ZAMBOANGA CITY (December 4, 2018) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) formally honored Police Chief Insp. Helen L Galvez, public information officer (PIO) and spokesperson of Police Regional Office in Zamboanga peninsula or PRO-9 as one of “10 most outstanding policewomen of the Philippines”.

P01 Marjorie S. Pablo, PRO-CALABARZON; 9. Sr. Insp Jairilyn Camangian, PRO-1 and 10. Sr. Insp. Liezl L. Abenilla, PRO-CALABARZON. PRO-9 Director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis D. Licup said yesterday Galvez was formally honored during a simple ceremonies held on Monday, Dec 3. at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Licup said Galvez .received the coveted award along with nine other female officers given by PNP together with the Zonta Club of Makati-Paseo de Roxas Foundation Inc., ARMSCOR and Andres P. Tamayo Sr. Foundation Inc.
As the chief of PIO and the spokesperson of the city director of Zamboanga City Police Office in 2015, she fostered cordial media relation and reinforcing community awareness and mobilization.
When she assumed as the PIO of PRO-9 from latter part of 2017 to the present, marathon media activities were realized and participated by Galvez as she continued to ensure accurate information dissemination.
Other policewomen who were named as The Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines (TOPWP) were Supt. Olivia A. The search for the TOPWP is an annual competition that aims to discover and recognize the efforts and achievements of female members of the PNP, according to Licup.
This annual competition is open to all active duty, female members of the PNP with a rank of up to police senior superintendent, he said..
The yearly award was started by Zonta Club of Makati-Paseo de Roxas together with the PNP that seeks to identify heroic women in the police force who are able to gain the support of the community to prevent and solve crimes in their locality, Licup added.
