Antipolo holiday festivities set

By Nel Andrade ANTIPOLO CITY- Christmas season in this ‘pilgrimage capital’ will be merrier and livelier as the local government has lined-up activities and festivities expected to thrill and delight locals and tourists out to savor the relatively cooler weather here.

Antipolo City government (FACEBOOK / MANILA BULLETIN) Mayor Casimiro Ynares III and city officials are expected to lead the grand parade happening on the morning of December 7, Friday. It is during this time that various drum and lyre groups composed of students and marching band groups representing the villages here will be parading in the city proper to enliven the ‘Antipolo Christmas Fiesta’. Also on December 7, the marching bands and the drum and lyre groups will be competing against each other at Sumulong Park and Ynares Center. Local brass bands will serenade the public in the ‘Serenata sa Mahal na Ina’Friday evening. On the actual day of the city fiesta on December 8, the image of the Immaculate Conception will be paraded and joined by the people. On the feast night, Sumulong Park will be the venue of a sponsored rock band concert at 8 p.m. while the grand coronation night of the Mutya ng Antipolo beauty pageant will happen the following day, December 9. Other events happening this month are the Numero Uno Sa Talento All Stars on December 14; the Mr. Antipolo 2018 Body Building and Physique Showdown 2018 on December 15; Mobile Legends Tournament at Xentro Mall; the cooking contest, ‘Bida Sa Kusina’ on December 23; Sumulong Day on December 27; Rizal Day activity on December 30 and New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks display on December 31 at Robinsons Place parking ground.
