Army 601st Brigade joins ARMM People's Day

By Francis Wakefield A joint medical and dental mission activity was conducted by the Army's 601st Brigade through the 57th Infantry Battalion and ARMM-HEARTH during the “ARMM People’s Day” celebration recently held at the Municipal Gymnasium, Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao. Among the services that were offered during the activity were supplemental food feeding, giving of free slippers to the children, medical check-up, circumcision, random blood sugar testing, dental services, distribution of mahogany seedlings, and free land-titling. The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) also distributed food packs primarily to indigent families and free school bags to elementary pupils. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided free medical and financial assistance to qualified beneficiaries. Capability-building activities were likewise provided during the People’s Day. Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana, commander of the Army's 6th Infantry Division, said the Supplemental Food Feeding Activity benefitted 300 people while 300 slippers were distributed to beneficiaries. Many availed of the free medical check-up, circumcision, Random Blood Sugar (RBS), dental services (tooth extraction), and land titling. Sobejana said the “ARMM People’s Day” is a program created by the ARMM Regional Government specifically the ARMM-HEART to be able to reach out to the Bangsamoro people and deliver free government services in collaboration with the different government agencies.
