More than just celebrating his 15 years in the business, Jed Madela’s “Higher Than High” concert held at the Big Dome recently was a four-hour vocal tour de force.
With the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Gerard Salonga, he took the audience down memory lane by singing the teleserye theme songs “Sinasamba Kita,” “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” “Kailangan Kita,” and “Ikaw Lang AngMamahalin,” among others.
He also belted original songs from his latest album “Higher Than High” like “I Got Your Back,” “Superhero,” and “Be With You Again,” which he even performed with all-male group Boyband PH.
One of the well-loved segments was his “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” duet with Regine Velasquez. His Adele medley with Jona, his performance with TNT boys, and the “Bohemian Rhapsody” production were astounding.
But the highlight of the show was the “Phantom Of The Opera” songs together with Kakai Bautista, Isay Alvarez, Nyoy Volante, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Tim Pavino, and Robert Seña. It was so good they earned a standing ovation.
Jed shed his serious persona albeit briefly when he mimicked the voices of several OPM icons like Regine, Lea Salonga, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, Jessa Zaragoza, Ogie Alcasid, and even Mommy Dionisia.
The singer also did the Ryan Cayabyab original “Munting Sanggol” together with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, as well as the inspirational “Di Matitinag” with the Philippine team of the World Championships of Performing Arts.
