Korean star Lee Jong Suk made everyone’s hearts flutter at his first fan meeting in Manila.
The 29-year-old actor of Korean dramas “While You Were Sleeping,” “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Doctor Stranger” answered personal questions and performed at his “Fan Meeting Tour Crank Up in Manila” on Nov. 18 at the Araneta Coliseum.
“It is my first time to greet you guys but thank you for greeting and welcoming me with a very hot passion,” Lee Jong Suk told the audience at the event hosted by Giselle Sanchez, a certified fan of the actor.
The star said he came to the Philippines “feeling excited and nervous because it’s my first time to see my Filipino fans and also, Manila is the last stop for my ‘Crank Up’ tour.”
He added that he was thankful and surprised when he saw fans shouting his name when he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
This is not the first time that Lee Jong Suk visited the country. In August 2013, he went to Davao to shoot the movie “No Breathing.”
During the fan meet, he answered questions about his personal life.
Asked how does he deal with stress, Lee Jong Suk said, “I usually release my stress by eating delicious food. But now since I’m entering a new drama, I can release my stress in that way. But I think meeting my fans like this is helping me release my stress.”
He will star in the drama “Romance is a Supplement” together with actress Lee Na-young set to air next year. On Nov. 27, his drama “Death Song” will air on Korean channel SBS.
This year marked Lee Jong Suk’s 30th birthday (in Korean age) and because of this, he said, he tried to become more mature.
“I have a lot of thoughts and concerns. Also I met my fans during the fan meetings and also, I was thinking about what to do with my next projects,” he said, adding that he will have a time off next year.
Lee Jong Suk started his acting career in 2010 and since then, he has played many roles in dramas and movies.
Among them, he said, “I think the most memorable character, well, because it’s the last one, it’s my character in ‘While You Were Sleeping.’ The drama ran from September to November last year and brought Lee Jong Suk an acting award at the SBS Drama Awards.
At the fan meet, Lee Jong Suk’s best and memorable scenes from his dramas were shown.
During the “OX Talk” segment, Lee Jong Suk agreed there is a reason for forbidden love, said that he is a jealous person, men and women can become friends and he’s enthusiastic and active when falling in love.
“When I want something, I have to have it,” he said of falling in love.
He also revealed he didn’t have a consistent ideal type for a girlfriend but said he wants someone who is wise.
At the event, Lee Jong Suk showed his musical skills by playing “My Soul” on the piano, and singing “Will You Know” and “Come to Me” from “While You Were Sleeping” official soundtrack, and “Only Then.”
“You guys are the best,” he told Pinoy fans. “I know this is the last stop and my last fan meeting but I’m so glad that I was able to do it here in Manila. I want to thank you guys for giving me such good memories to bring back home. And I will see you guys with better projects.”
He added, “I think this will forever stay in my memories so thank you and I love you guys. I know you guys are worried because of the bad incidents that kinda happened and I was also scared myself. Anyway, I’m so grateful to have been able to see you guys. It was really a good decision to come here.”
“I won’t forget the warm love and support for me. I don’t know when we will be able to see each other again. Even then, I still love you and I’m so, so thankful,” Lee Jong Suk said as he bid goodbye to fans.
On his Instagram account, he wrote, “Thank you, Manila” and uploaded a video of the fan meeting.
